“What motivated us to join is that we want to become engaged with the community and we thought that the Greater Greenfield Community Chamber was a great place to start,” says Denise Edlund of Christ Methodist Church.* Self-assigned to the PR role for the church, she adds, “We are a very welcoming congregation and want to share our love of Jesus with the people of Greenfield who are looking for more in their lives.”

Having attended the Chamber lunch in August and a First Friday coffee, Denise has been busy getting to know other GGCC members, especially since the church recently became part of the new Global Methodist denomination and is itself looking for certain services that Greenfield businesses can provide. She is eager to get the word out about the annual Thanksgiving dinner the church is hosting on November 23. Designed for people who need a place to go on that holiday, it’s free, full of food and friendship, and gets bigger every year.

The church, located at 5200 S. 48th Street in Greenfield, has approximately 50 parishioners, all of whom are very connected to each other—just like a family. Their pastor is Rev. Mao Her. Adult and children Sunday school is at 9:30 am; Sunday worship is at 10:30 am; coffee and snacks are served before and after the worship.

You’ll be pleased to read (we were happy to hear) that the parishioners are being encouraged to volunteer for some Chamber events. It’s all about getting comfortable with the people within the Greenfield community and building relationships, says Denise. We couldn’t agree more.

We encourage you to introduce yourself to Denise or other church members if you see them at a Chamber event. Call (414) 421-0202 if you are interested in learning more about Christ Methodist Church, have a need for some volunteers that would be a good niche for the parishioners, would like more information on their Bible studies, monthly Sunday potluck, or would like to join them for Thanksgiving.
