“The reason why we’re here is to serve the community,” says Dr. Janice Fan. To emphasize that point, she and her colleague, Dr. W. Colin Smith, joined the Greater Greenfield Community Chamber. The two optometrists, along with their office manager and optician, Danielle M., make up the 414 Eyes team located at 3925 S.76th St.
One question we ask new Chamber members is, “How can we best help you grow your business?” Dr. Fan replied that the rapport she hopes to establish with other chamber members will help build a certain level of comfortability and trust with 414 Eyes. The many opportunities to connect with the community through Chamber events will be invaluable; and, obviously, being listed in the Chamber’s business directory is helpful in promoting credibility. She’d love to be part of any future Chamber programs related to health care.
414 Eyes hosts several events of their own. The first two are trunk shows, one for back to school and the other for Christmas/holidays. Another is 414 Day. As a nod to Milwaukee’s area code (414), 414 Eyes hosted a mini celebration of the Brew City last year on, you guessed it, 4-14-23. This year, because the 14th lands on a Sunday, they’ll probably have festivities on Friday, April 12. Watch their Facebook page for details.
The premise behind Drs. Fan and Smith opening their own private practice is to provide equal access to excellent eye care. Dr. Fan emphasizes that last part by adding, “Not just eye care, but good, quality eye care.” They take “most all insurances,” including Medicaid, which goes to their mission of providing equal access.
“We want to stand out for how we treat patients,” says Dr. Fan. We want to make the experience for them warm and inviting.” “By giving us a chance,” she adds, “you’ll let us prove to you that we treat everyone without discrimination.” As evidence of how committed the practice is to providing exceptional eye care, 414 Eyes was nominated last year—under the category of Eye Doctor and Eyewear—for the Shepherd Express Best of Milwaukee.
As to their commitment to the community, residents are more than likely to see Dr. Fan and Dr. Smith out and about supporting Greenfield businesses, such as Fox’s Pub Grill. Says Dr. Fan, “It just feels good to support local. I sometimes feel people don’t realize that unless they, too, own a small business or have worked at or managed a small business. That’s another reason why we joined the Chamber, to connect with like-minded individuals and bounce ideas off of each other.” We know you’ll all give Dr. Fan, Dr. Smith, and Danielle a warm welcome should you see them at a Chamber event, or better still, visit their practice. You can support them by following 414 Eyes on Facebook and Instagram.
